Description
Dens Park is one of the stadiums located in Dundee, one of the largest cities in Scotland. It is mainly used by matches and training of Dundee F.C. It is capable of hosting around 11,500 people. Dens Park is 300-meter away from Tannadice Park used by Dundee United, its main rival.
Dundee played a range of successful matches during in the late 1990s, and that is why the stadium had to be renovated to match the requirements of the SPL. As a result, some terraces of the stadium were redeveloped in order to add 3,000 more seats.
The stands were redeveloped within less than three months, and the stadium was ready to host football matches of the season of 1999 and 2000. The Bobby Cox Stand is used by home fans, while Bob Shankly Stand is dedicated to the away fans. There also were built a ticket office as well as Club Shop.
It was the very first sportive venue in the city to be installed with new floodlights in the 21st century. In five years, the stadium was also equipped with undersoil heating.
