Lia Manoliu Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium and is located in the capital city Bucharest.The stadium has the capacity of 60,000 and was opened in 1953.When the stadium opened it was called Stadionul 23 August and later on as Stadionul National (National Stadium).It is now named after Lia Manoliu, a discus thrower, who competed at six summer olympics, winning three medals.The stadium is mostly used for football matches but has also hosted a Rolling Stones Concert.The stadium was closed in late 2007 for rebuilding and hopes to be reopened in early 2009.
