The San Siro stadium, actually entitled 'Giuseppe Meazza' after a famous Inter player was built in the year 1926 and opened on 19th September comprising of four stands with an initial capacity of a mere 10,000. San Siro is currently home to the major teams in Milan 'AC Milan' and 'Inter Milan (Internazionale)' and proudly sits in the history books alongside the worlds most famous stadia.
The next development stage of San Siro was increasing the capacity of the stadium from 10,000 to 55,000 which was completed in 1939 further work was completed in the 1950's to increase the capacity to over 100,000 - this was reduced to the present capacity of 85,700 when the San Siro was used in the Italian World Cup in 1990 and given its current design by architect 'Ragazzi e Hoffner e Salvi' with the famous 11 concrete towers on the exterior facade of the stadium.
The stadium has hosted numerous European and UEFA Cup finals and also has its own Museum detailing the history of Inter Milan, AC Milan and the Stadium and is definately worth a visit.
