Description

Addis Ababa Stadium is a pretty large stadium located in Ethiopia. It is in the city of Addis Ababa, which is the capital and the largest city in the republic. It is a multi-use venue that mainly hosts football matches. It features Class Two certificate for its great facilities for athletes, so it is also suitable for major competitions. The venue hosted famous athletes like H. Gebrselassie and A. Bikila. The stadium is the home ground of different clubs. Currently, the stadium is capable of hosting 35,000 people.

It was built in 1940. It has been chosen to host a range of the Cup of Nations in Africa, including the final games that were held in 1962. The renovation was conducted several times. The first time, the renovation took place in 1960, and then in 1999 because the stadium was planned to be used for the African Championship between the young football teams that took place in 2001. The young football club from Ethiopia managed to qualify for the The Fédération Internationale de Football Association World Championship between the young teams.
