Leicester Racecourse moved from Victoria Park to Oadby in 1883, and has been the home of Leicestershire Racing since. The course has 200 acres of land in total and runs 32 races per year and is one of Britains topflight small courses with a distance of just over 1 mile.
The course is known for an event called 'The National Hunt' which is a yearly event in which horses race over fences and hurdles. The Leicestershire Stakes (Group 3) is another popular course.
The venue is also a conference and function centre for both business and private clients.
A new grandstand was built at the racecourse in 1997 which boasts a glass facade and executive seating areas.

The nearest pubs can be found in Oadby Village, approximately one mile southbound on London Road, A6. There is a vast selection including The Lord Keeper Of The Great Seal, The Three Bells and The Old Library. Leicester Racecourse is also located next to The Chase Hotel and The Leicester Stage Hotel is with 5 minutes driving time.
The course is open to all supporters.
A huge selection of fine wines and foods can be purchased within the courses corporate facilities. For those with a blander pallet there is a selection of hotdog and burger stands.
Depending on seating or standing, prices typically start at £11 but top quality seating is generally more expensive and prices usually depend on the importance of the meeting.
Car: Exit the M1,M69 at junction 21, then follow the outer ring road A563 to the roundabout with London Road, A6. Leicester Racecourse is located to the right. Rail: Leicester trainstaion is located 2.5 miles northbound along the A6. The trainstaion is serviced by The Midland Mainline, London 70 minutes, Sheffield 90 minutes, aswell as direct routes to both Birmingham and Nottingham. On leaving the trainstation the Arriva 29 or 31 will take you to accross the road from the racecourse. Unfortunately the bus service can be unreliable and infrequent, so a taxi is often a better choice.
