Description
Grattan Stadium (Odsal) is a multi-purpose stadium located in the city of Odsal, the UK. In 1953, its highest attendance reached 69,429 people, which is a British record. In one year, it appeared in the Guinness Book of Records for hosting of 102,569 people during a rugby match. It is still one of the most recognized venues for Rugby League games. In 1999, there were 24,020 people who visited the stadium during the Super League matches.
Since 1934, it has been the home of Bradford Bulls R.L.F.C. There was a range of negative comments regarding the extremely big size of the stadium, poor protection, not enough facilities, etc. That is why the stadium was redeveloped in 1996. It has been the ground for different kinds of sports, including show jumping, basketball, baseball, tennis, kabaddi, and more. The stadium is also a venue for various music events. There is still the track remaining around the pitch, although the stadium has not been used for speedway racing since 1934.
The stadium includes the all-seated Tetley’s stand. Grattan Stadium (Odsal) belonged to the Bradford City Council until 2012, when the RFL purchased its leasing agreements. The current capacity of the Grattan Stadium is 26,019.
