Description
The Ismailia Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium located in Ismailia, a city in north-eastern Egypt. It is one of the oldest stadiums in Africa that has been used for more than eighty years. Although the Ismailia Stadium is suitable for different kinds of sports, it is mainly used for football matches by the local football club.
The stadium was constructed in 1934. In 2006, the ground was one of six other sports venues used for African Cup of Nations. There was a football match held between Ghana and Zimbabwe, which resulted in the victory of the latter with a score of 1-2.
The Ismailia Stadium was renovated in 2009, which allows increasing its total capacity up to 18,525 people. This is the home ground of Ismaily Sporting Club, which is a professional football club that was established in 1924. They won their first African championship in 1969. Ismaily Sporting Club also was one of the first teams in Egypt who had around 100,000 followers on their social media page.
This is an all-seater stadium with one covered stand and with the running track around the pitch. The stadium features a digital scoreboard. There are seats located on all side of the pitch, which allows choosing different places.
