Description
The El Hadj Hassan Gouled Aptidon Stadium, which is also referred to as Stade du Ville, is located in Djibouti, the capital and the largest city of the Republic of Djibouti. It was named after the 1st president of the republic.
The opening of the Stade du Ville took place in the summer of 1993. The stadium was constructed with the help of the specialists from China as a result of the successful cooperation between countries. In 2002, the venue started being renovated. The stadium could enjoy a range of benefits provided by one of the programs developed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association.
This multi-purpose venue is mainly used by football clubs for their matches. Particularly, it is the home ground of the national football team of the republic, which is also referred to as the Riverains de la Mer Rouge. The stadium is suitable to host around 10 000 people. Thanks to the Africa development program, since the spring of 2007, the stadium has been featuring the new pitch.
The stadium features an 8-lane athletics track as well as a synthetic turf. There are two stands, one of which is covered. The complex of the stadium also has three rooms for the martial arts and other kinds of sports.
